A Follow Up

So, I mentioned before that I was interviewing for a new position with my current company.  After my third interview, one of the recruiters offered a position that was different from what I was originally interviewing for.  Long story short, I declined the position, and have gracefully (I hope) bowed out of the interviewing process.

I’m at peace with the decision, knowing that the hubs can focus on finishing the house renovations like he wants and therefore, we’ll be able to refinance and be in a better place, financially speaking.  Besides, hubs promised that whether I got this position or not, we would be in Hawaii in a few months.

Thank you to those who have cheered me on. Please know that I’m content, and currently dreaming of tropical weather and pummeling ocean waves.

Aloha.

  1. I love Hawaii! I went for the first time this year, I was on the island they actually call Hawaii. The big one. I LOVED IT. I wish I could go back. Have fun. :)

    • I’ve been to the Big Island, but only when I was 6: I did remember that I loved walking around the black sand beaches and playing with lava rocks! My main love, though, is Maui, (Maui no ka oi=Maui’s the best!). Sigh.
      Thanks for stopping by!

    • Thank you for saying so, and yes, I feel very good about the decision, especially considering that I even though my company is great, it is still my paythebills job, and not my passion; I want to eventually write full time and moving to HI for this job would not bring me closer to my real life goals.

  2. Oh, Liza! Well, I’m glad the bowing-out was your decision, and that you’re content to carry on with a non-Hawaii-based existence. :) (Of course, that little vacation you’re planning makes things a lot better, I’m sure!!)

So proud of you for making it as far as you did in the interview process! Now you can focus on your writing goals—whee! Good luck!

    • Thanks for saying so Kayla, and I agree: I can totally focus on my writing goals now. Deciding not to pursue the other position helped to put in perspective that my real life goal is to write full time and not entrench myself in a position, which no matter how fun or nice or ego boosting, is still not aligned with my passion in life.
(Plus, I’ll be able to send you some excerpts hopefully by mid January, rather than freaking out about a really big move!)

  3. I’m glad to hear that you are content and expecting a great holiday! We may always depend on Romans 8:28, that all things will work out for good to the called according to his purposes. Something like that.. Ha! My memory isn’t getting any younger. Blessings to you…
