ARC Fever!!

So, I totally didn’t have a blog post in mind for today. I actually had to be “realistic” and admit that there weren’t enough hours in the day for me to work both jobs, eat, sleep AND write a post on top of my other writing-goal commitments, so alas, my blog just needed to wait. Or, so I thought.

While I was busily at Seasonal Job being a productive little bookseller, I happened across the little ARC shelf we have in our backroom. Not expecting anything read-worthy, I was completely bowled over when I saw the ARC of Lauren DeStefano’s Wither! My delight doubled when my manager said I could have it!

Needless to say, I twirled and sashayed myself out of the store (after my shift was done of course!), ARC triumphantly in hand. I might have even sang to it or myself or both; not that my cough-tastic voice added to my tone-deaf singing abilities in any way, but I was happy, dagnabbit, and any one in listening range just had to deal with their bleeding ear drums.

I can’t wait to read this, especially because this was one of the books that depressed me a little when I first saw it announced. You see, I’d been working on a dystopian at the time, (and even now, elements of my previous WIP are in my current WIP) and I was a little discouraged to see such a similar storyline in an about-to-be-published book. But, since then, I’ve come to see it as “the more books enriching the genre, the better.”

Now, what to DO with the ARC after I’ve read it is a different story…thoughts? I’ve always wanted to hold a contest or something fun and exciting like that.

(P.S. I hope this formats well, since this post is brought to you by the WordPress app for iPhone.)
