{I’m not an expert on fitness or anything like that. This is just me being accountable to my own goals. :D}
I love breakfast foods.
Probably because most of my life, the driving force that got me out of bed was my ravenous stomach. I ALWAYS woke up hungry. Even in college, when most people slept in on Saturdays, I still made my way down to the dining hall for Saturday brunch, which was served buffet style. Endless plates of scrambled eggs, waffles, sausage, bacon….delightful!
Anyway, since I started working in a retail environment, my shifts varied a lot, and some mornings (like today) I’m simply not in the mood for breakfast. Weird, but, it happens.
So, when I get wishy washy about what to eat, instead of skipping breakfast and risking the temptation of a fast food something, I make myself oatmeal.
As plain and uninspiring as it sounds, I love oatmeal because it’s quick to prepare and so versatile. I can put whatever topping I want on it. My favorite? One tbsp of natural peanut butter and one tsp of raw honey. The oatmeal ends up tasting like an ooey, gooey peanut butter cookie. (Yes, I’m eating it right now.) Along with my black coffee, I feel like I’m eating dessert for breakfast!
Do YOU have any healthy go-to breakfast meals?
*Special thanks to my friend Jackie of Girl With No Name for sharing this breakfast idea!
Not so healthy, but I love cinnamon/apple oatmeal with ice cream. Tastes like dessert instead of breakfast! But usually I eat eggos. Yeah. Boring. 🙂 Someday I’ll try your recipe for ooey gooey peanut butter cookies!
I do love porridge but more so in winter time. My hubby is another huge lover of breakfast foods!

In the summer, I eat leftover brown rice for breakfast. It is super fast. My favourite is a savoury version which involves sticking the rice in a bowl and topping it with sesame seeds, a few cashews, and sushi vinegar. So delicious with strong green tea. In cooler months, I throw leftover rice in a pot with a splash of milk, chopped dates, and chai masala (Indian tea spices). It’s an alternative to oatmeal.
mmm…my mouth started watering just reading that! I LOVE savory/vinegar-y tastes! Thanks so much for the suggestions!
My healthy option is granola. I LOVE it. But then I get sick of it and turn onto Wheatabix for a while 🙂
heehee, I understand what you mean! I often overload on one food for a while and need to switch things up later on!
Thanks for stopping by!
I have oatmeal for breakfast every morning 🙂 every single morning! It’s THE best way to start the day. I’m contemplating making some muesli for over summer, but all the same it will still have oats in it. I love oats.
I had never thought to add peanut butter and honey though… going to have to give that one a go!!
Let me know how you like it if you ever get around to trying it!
Peanut butter and honey! What a cool addition to oatmeal. Oatmeal IS fast, esp if you cook it in the microwave. 1 cup of oats, 2 cups of water, a dash of optional salt, zap 1 minute and stir, zap another minute and it’s ready! Viola! I add a sprinkle of cinnamon in it when I cook it for my hubbs. 🙂
My go-to is a sprinkle of stevia and cinnamon…classic!
I get stuck on one breakfast food and eat it everyday until I can’t stand to look at it. Formerly, the food was a granola bar. Currently, I eat two dry waffles. Maybe oatmeal will be my next food for a six-month period. 🙂
heehee, I do that too! As you can guess, I’m on a peanut butter and honey kick! I even had that on toast yesterday!
