Happy Birthday Month, Blog!

My blogaversary is this Friday, May 4th (Otherwise known as Star Wars Day. Yes, I’m THAT nerdy). It’s been a really fun two years, and I have to admit that even though I haven’t been the most consistent blogger in the world, I’ve really enjoyed the side effect of blogging, namely, the accountability I have to make progress toward my goals (writing or otherwise).

I’ve enjoyed the blogging community, and have met a lot of lovely writers, readers, and delightful nerds (and in a few weeks, I will actually meet many of you in real life!) who have become some of my closest friends. Because I believe in sharing the love and “paying it forward,” I want to celebrate the month by hosting a little giveaway.

Usually, I would normally host a giveaway for a book or two, but since there are so. Many. Awesome. Books out this month, like Paolo Bacigalupi’s The Drowned Cities or Veronica Roth’s Insurgent, I thought it would be better for you all to pick the book you want!

So, for my Blog Birthday, I’ll be giving away a $20 Amazon (or Barnes and Noble) e-giftcard! (Winner’s preference, of course!) All you have to do is be a subscriber/follower of this blog, and comment below, and you’ll be entered into the raffle!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. Congratulations, Michele S!

Also, because I want you to know how much I appreciate you, any comment on any post this month, will count as extra entries!

So, tell me…Why do YOU blog? If you’re not a blogger, please feel free to share your goals for this year! If you’re a fellow writer, anything fun and shiny you’re working on?

Happy Birthday!!! It’s been a while since I’ve stopped by off the reader – what a redesign dang!

I blogged years ago to get things off my chest and feel like people could hear me. I blog nowadays to join the community of writers and to promote other writers and Asian-Americans.

Happy Blog Birthday!! You have a great blog here (always love reading it!). I think my interest in blogging really comes from connecting with a community of writers. I never realized how important that validation would become or how much I would value the blogging friends I have.

Happy, happy blog birthday!!!! I used to blog for the same reason as Michelle… mostly to share my heart and thoughts with others. Then I read all this stuff on how I’m SUPPOSED to blog and what I’m SUPPOSED to say and it got really job-y. Yuck! So I’m trying to reset and find things I love to chat about and just be myself. We’ll see what happens. But I LOVE spending time here on your blog. I always walk away incredibly uplifted and full of hope! *big squeezyhugs*

    Yay!! Happy blogbirthday!

I blog mostly because for some reason it helps me process things better than pen-and-ink journaling does. Maybe that’s because of the community and sense of dialogue…which are collectively the second reason I blog. I love making new friends through blogging (and related social media). So awesome! That’s how we met, after all, and I’m so grateful for that.

First of all, congratulations on completing two years! I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed your blog, as you must know well, and have been inspired countless times πŸ™‚ Thank you for all that! And as I’ve entered your giveaway, just wanted to let you know that my email has been wrongly entered in the form. Please make the change, if possible, to thelitshack@yahoo.com

    Cheers πŸ™‚

Happy bloggy birthday! I don’t exactly blog anymore. I have a website on which I post short stories and poems. I love to write. I’ve been writing stories and songs since I was very young. It’s my passion and my escape from reality.

Yay how cool! I am so pleased that I met you through blogging, and so pleased that you’ve gotten so much out of it. It’s a really worthwhile thing to do, and I love reading about what you’re up to πŸ™‚

Congrats on your blogversary! I blog because I need to connect with other writers. I was very lonely before I found the writer-blogger world. Now not only have I met truly wonderful, inspiring people, I’ve learned a lot about the publishing industry at large. It is glorious!

Congrats on two years! I’m just getting ready to start blogging after a break that was longer than I expected. It’s crazy how much I miss the interaction and feeling of community! I’m working on two MG projects…hopefully at least one of them will end up query-worthy. Thanks for the giveaway!

I blog because sometimes I just have something to say and I hope someone wants to hear it. I like to blog some of my poetry, what I observe about people and myself, and hopefully connect with new friends because of it! Like we did!
